Practical Nursing

When I started thinking about going back to school, I knew I wanted to do something promising. Becoming a nurse would allow me to provide for my family while caring for others. I just had to find the road that could take me there. The Kindercollege, a day care on the College Drive campus, is a fun place for my one year old while I am in class. It’s comforting to know that I am not far from her and I can peek often. As a nontraditional student, a bigger university would not meet my needs. ACTC allows me to pursue my career while still meeting the responsibilities I have to my children.

Becoming a nurse will allow me to provide for my family while caring for others.  ACTC offers a practical nursing program in only three semesters and is made up of three components.  The lab is hands on, and it’s where I learn the skills involved in nursing.  In the classroom setting, I learn the theory that every good nurse needs to know.  My favorite part, clinical, is where I gain real life experience and the confidence that nursing really is the career for me.  My instructors provide time for one on one help if I need it and I know that they want me to succeed.
