Electrical Technology

In 2007 I was in the military looking at early Medical Retirement. I was thinking about my future and life after the military. It was scary. I liked electrical technology in the military and decided to find a school and pursue the same occupation in civilian life. I lived in Minnesota at the time, but all the schools in Minnesota that taught electricity were booked. I couldn’t even apply until 2009. I went to Ft Knox, KY briefly going through the MEB and met a man who I fell head over heels for. I decided to start a new life in KY. I started at ACTC in fall of 2007 and have loved every second of it.

When I was in high school it seemed that I could stay up all night to study for a test and the next day I would still get a lower score than I liked. Until I got here, school was hard. I came here and got all A's my first semester! Since then I have maintained that average. Just goes to show you that when you like what you are learning, it isn’t hard to succeed.

My instructors Rick Collier, Tim McAdams, and Harold Henry have been wonderful. They really have helped me through a lot, not just school related. They really get to know their students and help out in any way they can when they see one of them in a pinch. I always joke that I will ask a lot of stupid questions, but promise to never ask the same one twice. They have been very patient and understanding. They never make me feel like I should have known the answer already.
