Services

 

A wide variety of resources and services are offered through the Center.  On-line career assessment programs and world-wide-web sites provide information in the areas of personal interest, work-related values and personality type.  A large library of books, journals and videos further enhance the search for appropriate career fields.  The Center's website contains additional resources and links to career and job placement information.

 

**CAREER ASSESSMENT**

 

Various on-line career assessment inventories are available to help you in choosing the career field that is right for you.

 

How do I complete a career assessment?

    Call or visit the Career Center, room 218, College Drive Campus to schedule an appointment; or visit the Links page for a listing of career assessments.

 

How long does the assessment take?

    The assessment generally takes 1-2 hours, depending on the amount of time it takes you to answer the inventories.

 

What will the assessment tell me?

    The assessment will match you to specific occupations according to your answers.  These occupations can then be researched in detail, including an overview of the career field, training requirements, job outlook, and salary.

Finding a Job

    Check the employment opportunities page for a complete listing of current local and national jobs. For additional information on any listing or to pick up a referral slip, please stop by or call the Center office, or if noted in the "To Apply" section, you may contact the employer directly.

 

What Employers are Looking For

    Employers are looking to hire qualified employees who possess a wide variety of workplace skills. Teamwork, leadership, professionalism, a strong work ethic, good communication skills, and basic computer skills are the major attributes employers are seeking in new employees. As a perspective employee, possessing these skills will greatly increase your chance of securing employment.

 

Start an Employment File

    Current ACTC students, ACTC graduates, and ACC/ATC alumni are invited to visit the Career Center to start an employment file.  Your file will consist of: an up-to-date resume, references, any letters of recommendation you may have, information release form, and the type of job(s) you are seeking.  Your information will be sent to employers for positions in which you possess the qualifications and requirements specified by the employer.

 

**PRE-EMPLOYABILITY ASSISTANCE**

 

Assistance is available in: Resume Writing, Cover Letters, Job Search, and Interviewing by either contacting the Center to schedule an individual appointment or by attending Workshops offered by the Center.
