The Adult Education Program provides services at no charge to adults preparing for college as well as those who are already enrolled. The services are provided to all adults who need to improve their basic skills in math, writing, reading, science, social studies, computer use, etc.
The numerous services that are available include:
College preparation for college bound adults (all ages) who need a refresher in basic subject areas, assisting in transition to college. Study preparation for college entrance tests, COMPASS or ACT is also provided.
GED Preparation and/or the official GED Practice test for those who did not finish high school.
English as a Second Language (ESL) for adults whose first language is not English. Preparation for the US citizenship test is also available
Pre-employability study materials and resume writing assistance for adults who are unemployed. ACT WorkKey Testing to earn the KY Employability Certificate.
Basic skills instruction to better learn a subject to get a job promotion.
Basic computer instruction for adults who need beginner computer skills.
Family learning activities for parent and children (infants through age four).
Workplace basic skills instruction at the job site.
All skill levels, from beginning reading to college preparation, are covered in the Adult Education Program. The staff provides a variety of educational settings, either through small classes, complete based instruction (called Distance Learning) or individual tutoring.
The services of the Adult Education Program are provided at no cost for services. Both evening and day services are provided at the KCTCS Roberts Drive site or at satellite sites throughout the area.
