The pharmacy technician performs technical functions under the direction of the Registered Pharmacist; including prescription preparation, inventory, repackaging, and compounding. The essential elements of this program include the history of pharmacy, pharmacy law, medical terminology, drug classification and prescription preparation. Laboratory experience and an externship under the supervision of a licensed pharmacist are required components of the program.
Pharmacy Technicians have employment opportunities in community, home health, nuclear and hospital pharmacies.
The Pharmacy Technology program is now a selective admissions program. Your application will be based on a point system. Application to the program does not guarantee acceptance.

Certificates under this program can be completed in one year. An Associate in Applied Science may take two years.
