Respiratory Care Advanced Practitioner

 The program prepares graduates to take an active role in the maintenance and/or restoration of cardiopulmonary homeostasis. The curriculum includes intensive course work in the supporting sciences and general education courses that provide a foundation in the basic disciplines of writing, mathematics, science, social science and humanities. Classroom instruction is supplemented with learning experiences in the campus laboratory and in area hospitals.

Career Path

Although hospitals employ the majority of respiratory therapists, other employers include home care providers, medical clinics, nursing homes and industry.

Admission Requirements

This is a selective admissions program.  In order for an application to be considered, students must have:

  • Application for admission to college.
  • Respiratory Care application.
  • Required minimum ACT scores (Math - 19 / Reading - 20 / Writing - 18) or the equivalent on the COMPASS or ASSET examination.
  • Documentation of observation hours.
  • Official transcript of all post-secondary coursework.
  • Documentation of attendance at a Respiratory Care pre-admission conference.
  • All developmental courses must be taken prior to pre-requisite courses.
  • All pre-requisite courses must be taken prior to program admission.
  • Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) courses must be completed prior to admission.

Program Length

4 semesters after a student is accepted into the program.
