COMPASS is a computerized placement test used by all Kentucky Community & Technical Colleges (KCTCS) to evaluate students in reading, writing, math and ESL skills for placement decisions. Many individuals with plans to enroll at one of the KCTCS institutions find it beneficial to review/up-grade their basic academic skills with Adult Education before taking the COMPASS exam.
COMPASS scores determine whether one begins college by taking credit-bearing classes. Whenever COMPASS scores are made it is advisable to study with Adult Education and then re-take the COMPASS test with the goal of making a higher score(s). COMPASS prep classes and COMPASS study books are available through the Adult Learning Center.
