Theresa Sullivan of Greenup has received the American Association for Women in Community Colleges – ACTC Chapter scholarship for Spring Semester.
The scholarship is presented each semester to a female student enrolled in at least six credit hours of class who has a minimum 2.5 GPA and who has overcome obstacles to attend college. The $300 scholarship can be used for any college related expenses \
Sullivan is a Pharmacy Technology student. A single mother of four children, she returned to school after her marriage ended. She had to quit her job as a cook in order to take the courses she needed, and she is now working as an office assistant at ACTC through the Ready-to-Work Program.
In her scholarship essay, Theresa wrote: “I have overcome several obstacles to attend college. Even though I am still dealing with a lot of issues, I am determined to complete my college education and be the first in my family to earn a college degree.” She has a 3.16 GPA.
