Maintain Your Financial Aid Eligibility

Satisfactory Academic Progress

Federal regulations mandate that a student receiving financial aid under Title IV programs must maintain Satisfactory Academic Progress in his/her course of study regardless of whether or not financial aid is awarded each semester.  To receive and to continue to receive financial aid, you must:

  • Earn (pass) two-thirds of all credits you attempt in every term (based on your enrollment at the end of drop/add).
  • Have at least a 2.0 GPA by the end of every term.
  • Have attempted fewer than 150% of the credits required for your program of study.
  • Have completed all Developmental Hours in few than 30 attempts.
  • Satisfactory Academic Progress Purpose and Scope

If your financial aid is suspended, you have the right to submit an appeal.

  • If you are SUSPENDED based on GPA and/or completion percentage, you may file an Appeal to be considered for financial aid reinstatement based on unusual circumstances that were a factor in not meeting Satisfactory Academic Progress.
  1. First, complete a FAFSA and your ACTC financial aid file for the award year.
  2. Complete and submit an Appeal Request Form.
  3. Provide documentation of unusual circumstances such as illness, death in immediate family, accidents.
  • If you are SUSPENDED based on attempting more than the number of allowable hours for your credential (you have exceeded Maximum Time Frame), you may file an Appeal and Degree Audit to be considered for financial aid reinstatement based on unusual circumstances that were a factor in not meeting Satisfactory Academic Progress.
  1. First, complete a FAFSA and your ACTC financial aid file for the award year.
  2. Complete and submit an Appeal Request Form; also, provide documentation of unusual circumstances such as illness, death in immediate family, accidents.
  3. Complete and submit a Degree Audit Form with your Program Coordinator's assistance.  Your Program Coordinator should list only those courses you need to satisfy your current credential.

Note:  You, the student, are responsible for payment arrangements pending a decision.  Tuition is not guaranteed nor is a book charge available to you pending a decision.  Appeal decisions are sent either by mail or by e-mail.  We will not discuss Appeal Decisions over the phone.
