Return to Title IV
When a recipient of Title IV grant or loan assistance withdraws from an institution during the semester in which h/she began attendance, the institution must determine the amount of the Title IV grant or loan assistance (not including Federal Work Study) that the student earned as of the student’s withdrawal date. Unearned Title IV funds must not be disbursed or must be returned to the Title IV programs depending on the student’s withdrawal date.
In other words, if a student does not remain enrolled for the entire period of the term, he/she has not earned all of his/her Title IV aid and MUST repay a portion of the original award.
