Website Policies

For Offices, Administrative Units and Student Organizations

The Ashland Community & Technical College web team invites all internal units and offices to utilize the capabilities provided by the new medium of the World Wide Web. Most of our offices have at least some information that they wish the public to have access to via the web. In doing this there are two options. An office may choose to have the webmaster take care of posting and changing the information when needed or an office can choose to do so itself.

If your office wishes to have the webmaster maintain it’s information. You must do the following:

  • Designate one person to be the web contact person. All requests for changes to be sent to the webmaster from that person.
  • All requests for changes to the site must be include the content to be added or changed in digital form. (If you need assistance with getting the content into digital form e.g scanning a photograph, please contact the Multimedia Resource Center).
  • All requests must clearly designate the page or pages which are to be changed. If a page is to be added to the site please the pages that are to be linked to the new page.

If your office wishes to maintain it’s own site you must do the following:

  • It must be clear that the organization is part of ACTC and there must be a link to the ACTC homepage on every page.
  • An accessibility disclaimer must be included on the site.
  • While we do not wish to limit creativity, it is important that ACTC maintain a professional image. For this reason, all websites that maintained by ACTC organizational units must have a consistent, professional design and clear, comprehensible navigation. (If you need help with this please contact the webmaster or the MRC.)
  • Contact information for the site administrator and technical contact must be on or available from every page. (We suggest using a form for this rather than directly showing your email addresses. If you need help with this contact the webmaster or the MRC.)
  • The web space provided is to be used only for pages and documents related to the activities of the organization.
  • The space is NOT storage for personal files, warez, etc. Before the site is linked into the Ashland Community & Technical College web for the first time it must be in compliance with this agreement. The administrator and technical contact must sign this agreement.

Failure to comply with these rules may result in denial of service, denial of access or other sanctions as appropriate.

For Individual Faculty and Staff

Individual Faculty and Staff can request web space for use with personal projects or ACTC related matters. To request personal web space contact the webmaster at . Personal web spaces must conform to the following rules:

  • While we do not wish to limit creativity, it is important that ACTC maintain a professional image. For this reason, all personal web spaces must conform to community standards of decency and legality.
  • The space is NOT storage for personal files, warez, mp3s etc.
  • The space is NOT to be used for commercial ventures.

Failure to comply with these rules may result in denial of service, denial of access or other sanctions as appropriate.
