Women's History Month
Women's History Month began as International Women's Day,
which was originally celebrated on March 8, 1911 in Europe.
In 1978, Women's History Week was first celebrated. In
1980, a congressional order was passed to make a National
Women's History Week in March. In 1987, at the request
of the Women's History Project, the National Women's History
Week was expanded for an entire month.
Celebrate Women's History Month by discovering more about
women who have made a difference. Check out the
Women's History Month Resources and the Suggested Reading
list for this month.
