The Ashland Community & Technical College Security Department provides assistance for all students, faculty, staff and visitors in cases such as, car trouble, locking your keys in your vehicle, reporting criminal activity or accidents and giving directions. If you have any other problems, other than these listed, please call (606) 326-2999 or (606) 922-8389 and ask for security, we will do our best to assist you. This department can only provide these services to persons while they are on Ashland Community & Technical College property.
This department is for security monitoring, reporting and providing assistance to students, faculty, staff and visitors only. Our security officers do not have the power to arrest detain or search individuals or their properties without the permission of the individual. They do have the authority to call Ashland Police Department and report any suspicious behavior or criminal activity. Our security department is responsible for issuing parking tickets for individuals who do not have valid parking permits, park in fire lanes, block entrances or exists or park in any other unauthorized parking areas on Ashland Community & Technical College's property. All our security officers are trained by Corporate Security, who has the contract for providing Ashland Community & Technical College this service. When possible Ashland Police Department will provide some training for our security. This in-service training includes such topics as child abuse, family violence, cultural diversity, disarming firearms, drug and Alcohol abuse symptoms and sexual assault. This department does not conduct criminal investigations; only provide security service for Ashland Community & Technical College.
The security department works closely with the Ashland Police Department, Ashland Fire Department, Boyd County Sheriff's Department and the Kentucky State Police. This department will ask for or provide any assistance to local, state and federal law enforcement agencies. The Security Department also maintains a close working relationship with our Maintenance department and other key personnel of the college to help maintain a safe and secure campus.
