Student Support Services

About Us

What is the Student Support Services Program?

The Student Support Services Program was developed through a federal grant from the US Department of Education in 1968. The program offers eligible students such supplemental services as specialized academic advising, tutoring, career counseling, peer mentoring, and study skills instruction. In addition, the program provides some direct financial assistance in the form of grant.

The goal of SSS Program is to increase the college retention and graduation rates of its participants and facilitate the process of transition from one level of higher education to the next.

Student Support Services is a grant funded Federal Trio Program. The U.S. Department of Education has awarded SSS at Ashland Community & Technical College a base award of $271,074.00 to provide services to those students who qualify for the program. All activities and services offered to the students in SSS are made possible through the use of these grant funds.

Who can participate in the Student Support Services Program?

More than half of ACTC students meet guidelines for the SSS Program.  You may be eligible if you meet one or more of the following guidelines established by the US Department of Education:

  • First generation students

  • Income eligible students

  • Mentally, physically, and/or leaning disabled students

Currently we service 175 students from our three campuses.  We welcome any and all students, if interested,  please fill out an application and we will process it as quickly as possible.
