A.     Staff Introductions – Chair Marcum indicated that the Staff Executive Council felt it would be a good idea to start having staff introductions at each of the all-staff meetings in order for us to learn more about each others roles at ACTC.  Carol Roe introduced herself and talked a little about what she does.  She has been with ACTC for eleven years in a variety of roles.  For the past five years she has been an Agency Representative where she serves as a liaison for third party agencies and students.  She works with the rehab students, employer students, veteran’s tech programs, and is a member of the valued employees and graduation committees. She is also the New Horizons Nominee for this year.

B.     Staff Learning Conference – Chair Marcum reminded Staff that the Staff Learning Conference will be held June 2 at Technology Drive from 8:00AM to 4:00PM.  There will be 14 different speakers and the conference is free to the staff at ACTC.

President's Report

Dr. Adkins thanked Chair Marcum for her service and leadership for the past two years.

Dr. Adkins pointed out that tomorrow marked the five year anniversary of his first official visit to ACTC. He also indicated that he was very happy he came.

Dr. Adkins spoke about the Two Hearts Pregnancy Community Project and that he was very pleased with the results.  He also said it was a pleasure to work with the staff on this project.

Dr. Adkins was interviewed by Lane Report in which there will be a centerpiece focusing on 5 counties and their cooperation on Multiversity and Literacy.  He said it should have honorable mention for ACTC in this report.

Dr. Adkins spoke to those who have UK benefits.  The Board finalized the budget and allotted one million dollars toward healthcare for UK and now awaits approval from UK.  He indicated that his change should “level the playing field.”

He said that we now have 36 million dollars for Technology Drive and he now plans to meet with the officials, architects and engineers to get the plans going.  There should be 140,000 sq ft upon completion.  Roberts Drive will relocate to Technology Drive. The goal is to have Summer ’08 occupancy.  The focus will start out on Administration and Culinary arts then the shops.  Roberts Drive Employees will relocate to either Technology Drive or College Drive.

Dr. Adkins spoke about a goal to obtain funding for a new reading program called the “Read Write Program.”  It is an expensive program but very successful.  He asked Joan Flannery to elaborate.  Joan described the program and says it’s really good and has a very high success rate in teaching literacy.  Dr. Adkins is excited about the program and is working to get it approved.  The closest one to us at this time is in Putnam County, WV.

Dr. Adkins also spoke about the SACS team who was in this week and gave Dr. Adkins an exit interview.  He has been told that ACTC is in compliance with all SACS requirements.  They reviewed 100% of the adjunct Full Time Faculty files.

Dr. Adkins also thanked the staff for the cooperation on the Evaluations.  He says he has almost finished reading them and he thanked the staff for the good work they done.  He also indicated there was an improvement in communication and at midyear we are almost at 100%.

He also spoke about the Campus Climate Survey.  He says this survey is not evaluating him but tells us about the atmosphere of the college.  This is only done once every other year and we can use it to compare to other community colleges.

Dr. Adkins asked if there were any questions (None).
